When hard copy documents are generated during a patients care, they are scanned into the electronic patient administration system and then the original hard copy is securely destroyed. All hard copy documents are shredded on at least a weekly basis using a cross-cut shredder. No hard copy patient records are routinely kept beyond one week. Should electronic records require destruction then this is handled by a professional IT company.
